Axe To Grind
I’m sure I’m going to regret this, but seeing as how the internet finds ways to dredge up ALL of our old secrets, I might as well go ahead and get in front of this one. Ready for it? Here it goes…
I once tried to do a podcast.
Not by myself, of course. That would be boring. I had collaborators, including our own Patrick Underhill, along with another old buddy of ours who shall remain nameless (Okay, his name is Chris Abichandani… I’m terrible with secrets). We talked mostly about gaming, and we had a short-lived podcast/blog called Axe to Grind. The entire endeavor was a chance to bring our brand of gaming and pop culture humor to the rest of the world, and to just goof around on Skype conference calls for a couple hours at a time. The whole thing was a blast, and looking back on it, I regret that we didn’t get to do more. Patrick and Chris are funny, funny guys. And I’m… uh… friends with them. Plus I have a decent radio voice, I think. But the effort wasn’t worth the limited return, and it’s hard making your friends do things like this for free for a long period of time. Just ask anyone associated with Lake Cops. And Crime Boss.
Why do I bring this up now? Because today I happened to stumble upon the old blog while checking out my Blogspot profile. Talk about memory lane! I’d completely forgotten about it until I saw that link on the ‘Other Blogs’ section of my profile. I’m actually surprised the site is still up, and looking through it, I’m tempted to start posting random crap up there again. Maybe even some more podcasts, although I rarely do any gaming these days. And I doubt anyone would listen to a writing podcast.
….. (I thought so)
Ultimately, though, this was just a reminder of the twists and turns we take through life. It was another step on my journey toward deciding what the hell I wanted to do. Luckily, I found writing and storytelling, and I intend to focus on that for quite some time. And I’ll leave Axe To Grind as a small little adventure on the road-trip that is life.
But maybe look for a new post here and there in the future. If I can log in.
